COSPACE Webinar Series - Preview - Webinar 1
  • RESPONDENT & MAGDA host joint webinar on leveraging space technologies for climate resilience
  • Collaboration between two Horizon Europe projects driving innovation in energy and agriculture
  • Live session on March 13, 2025, at 10:00 CET – registration now open

6th February, 2025 – Two Horizon Europe-funded projects, RESPONDENT and MAGDA, as part of the COSPACE cluster are joining forces for a landmark webinar on March 13, 2025, at 10:00 CET, to explore how space technologies are transforming Europe’s energy and agriculture sectors. This collaborative event will highlight how both projects leverage Galileo and Copernicus, the EU’s satellite navigation and Earth observation programs, to address some of the most pressing climate challenges.

RESPONDENT is developing AI-driven forecasting solutions that enable more accurate predictions of renewable energy generation and demand, ensuring greater grid stability and efficiency. MAGDA is applying cutting-edge weather forecasting and hydrological modelling to help farmers adapt to extreme climate conditions, improving irrigation strategies and protecting food production. Together, these projects demonstrate the powerful role of space-based technologies in driving Europe’s clean energy transition and sustainable agriculture efforts.

This joint webinar will bring together grid operators, agricultural professionals, policymakers, researchers, and industry experts for a discussion on how these innovations are shaping the future of energy security and food resilience through project presentations, keynote speeches, and practical demonstrations. Attendees will gain insights into new forecasting models, real-time monitoring tools, and AI-driven applications that support climate adaptation across sectors.

Event Details:

  • Date: March 13, 2025
  • Time: 10:00am CET
  • Location: Microsoft Teams
  • Registration: Registration Form

About RESPONDENT:

RESPONDENT is a Horizon Europe project focused on enhancing the integration of renewable energy sources into Europe’s power grids through the utilisation of European space technology and managed by the EU Agency for the Space Programme (EUSPA) on behalf of the European Commission. The project brings together leading experts and organisations to drive forward the EU’s renewable energy agenda.

RESPONDENT has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement no. 101082355.

About MAGDA:

MAGDA aims to provide valuable weather and irrigation information directly to farmers and agricultural operators, by exploiting the strengths of atmosphere and soil sensing technologies.

The project is developing a toolchain for atmosphere monitoring, weather forecasting, and hydrological modelling with Europe’s Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Galileo and the European Union’s Earth observation (EO) programme Copernicus at its core. The major method is the assimilation of spaceborne, weather drone-derived and ground-based sensor data into very high-resolution numerical weather prediction models, which will also drive a hydrological model.

MAGDA has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement no. 101082189.
